InfoCision employees give back during the holiday season
From the familiar red kettles of The Salvation Army to Toys for Tots to Feed The Children, InfoCision employees found numerous ways to help those less fortunate this holiday season.
“Our employees have big hearts and are always willing to share their resources with others,” Said Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Steve Brubaker. “I am proud to work with a team of people who are so very generous to the many causes we represent.”
Feeding children in need
On the morning of Nov. 20, many volunteers from InfoCision’s Akron-based corporate headquarters and our eastern call center locations gathered around a Feed The Children semi truck at The Salvation Army’s Youngstown, Ohio location. Thanks to employees who donated nearly $7,200 in August, we were able to fill one semi truck with enough to supply 400 families of four with food and personal care items for one week.
Feed The Children, in cooperation with The Salvation Army, pre-qualified area families with children for the parcels, which included a 27-pound box of food, bottles of iced tea and another large box of personal care items. All together, the value of the contents in truck was between $35,000 and $50,000. InfoCision employees not only unloaded the boxes from the truck, but also distributed them and helped recipients to their cars.
On hand to help and thank InfoCision was Feed The Children’s Director of Donor Services John Richmond. “It is really a blessing to be here,” he said. “This is my first truck event and I couldn’t think of a better group to be here with. Thank you very much.”
Lending a helping hand to The Salvation Army
As in past years, InfoCision employees were eager to help The Salvation Army. Not only did employees volunteer for the familiar red kettle campaign, but numerous locations participated in the Angel Tree Program.
Over the past couple of years, our Austintown, Ohio location provided toys and other items to fulfill the wish lists of more than 100 local children. Our Boardman, Austintown and Youngstown, Ohio and Huntington, W.Va. locations all participated in Angel Tree, a program that provides new clothing and toys for children of families in need. So far, our call centers have adopted 265 children.
Company-wide, we are also taking part in The Salvation Army’s online red kettle campaign. Our goal is to raise $5,000 and employees can contribute in two ways, by creating their own kettle or supporting InfoCision’s kettle.
“We’re all familiar with The Salvation Army’s red kettles outside our favorite retail stores during the Christmas season,” said Public Relations Coordinator Gretchen Fri. “Now there is another way to help The Salvation Army warm the hearts and souls of people in need at Christmastime. InfoCision is proud to kick off our first online red kettle campaign.”
Donating Toys for Tots, Coats for Kids and much more
In addition to these efforts, InfoCision is volunteering and contributing to numerous other efforts, including:
- Toys for Tots: Company-wide we donated nearly 700 toys and $800.
- Coats for Kids: Our Dayton, Ohio Christian call center donated hundreds of items to St. Vincent Homeless Shelter.
- Adopting families in need: The Dayton, Ohio Volunteer Recruitment call center chose two families to adopt for the holidays.
- Food drives: Our Youngstown, Ohio Communications and Financial Services location collected and donated hundreds of food items to The Salvation Army. Dayton Christian also donated more than 400 items to its local food bank.
- Donating cold-weather clothes: Our Fulfillment Center, located in Uniontown, Ohio, collected enough clothes to fill a five-foot cubed pallet and donated them to the Haven of Rest shelter in Akron.
